What is Ultherapy? A Non Invasive Treatment

Non-invasive skin care treatments have been increasing in popularity over the last few decades. Where people used to turn to more involved methods of improving their skin and looking more youthful, things like facelifts and Botox injections, they are now trying to get the same results without all the needles.

With newer options like Miami Skin Ultherapy at Miami Skin Institute, you can get the skin you want without the recovery time that comes with many of the other options out there.

Let’s Talk Ultherapy

Ultherapy is often considered the gold standard when it comes to non-surgical lifting and skin tightening technology. In fact, it is the only FDA-cleared, non-invasive procedure that claims to lift the skin on the neck, chin, and brow. It can also improve fine lines and wrinkles on the decolletage (upper chest area).

With its unique technology, Ultherapy uses ultrasound imaging to deliver energy specifically to the place or places that will benefit your appearance the most. You’re left with natural-looking results that can also improve over time.

The combination of ultrasound imaging and ultrasound technology works together live during the procedure, allowing the providers to actually see through the multiple layers of the skin to find the precise tissue that needs the most treatment and care. That means that it actually bypasses the top layer of the skin entirely, unlike so many of the other treatments out there.

One of the drawbacks to having Ultherapy performed is the financial cost. While that varies depending on where you are having it done and how many treatments you need, it is estimated that it costs around $1500 dollars (on the low end) on average.

How Exactly Does Ultherapy Work?

So we know that Ultherapy uses ultrasound to be able to target and improve the skin, but how does it actually do that?

When that microfocused ultrasound is directed to certain parts of your face and neck, it triggers a thermal effect. As the heat is released, it begins to actually trigger the body to be able to produce more of its own collagen. Collagen, as you likely already know, is one of the most important components that helps the skin stay firm and youthful. It’s a supportive protein which naturally starts to slow down when we hit our mid to late twenties. The less collagen that we have in our face, the more it will start to thin and sag, leading to an increase in wrinkles, dark circles, and firmness.

What is Involved in the Ultherapy Process?

If you’re interested in pursuing Ultherapy, the first step is to make sure that there is a licensed provider near you. Once you’ve found one, schedule a one-on-one appointment with them to discuss your goals. They’ll also be able to evaluate your unique skin concerns, and let you know if you really are a candidate.

Once it’s time for your treatment, there really isn’t anything that needs to be done to prepare for it. Generally, your skin will be cleansed just prior so that it is easier to get through the skin and target the areas that need it. Ultrasound gel will be put on those areas, followed by the treatment applicator. The treatment will go on from there, adjusting as needed to find other areas that need targeting. The entire process takes anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes in total.

After treatment is finished, most people experience only slight redness or flushing. Occasionally, some complain about tenderness, tingling, or swelling of the skin, but those symptoms are mild and temporary. In a vast majority of cases, optimal results appear in between 3 – 6 months. It is also recommended that the therapy be repeated in two years to keep up the results.

Ultherapy has been used by half a million people all across the globe, and has gone through clinical testing to prove its safety and efficacy.

What If I’m Not Quite Ready for Ultherapy?

If you’re just starting out paying attention to your skin, you probably don’t want to jump immediately into expensive treatments like Ultherapy… and that’s ok!

We created Miami MD for precisely that reason. Skin care should be accessible to everyone, not just those who can afford to go to a provider and have treatments done. Our skin care line is considered to be “functional” skin care, meaning that it works as you wear it while also performing long term benefits.

If you’re interested in seeking out products that can help with many of the same concerns that Ultherapy helps with, like tightening up the skin on your face and neck, we have a few products to suggest.

The one that fits most closely with that goal is our Age-Defying Lift & Firm Cream. When we created it, we wanted a product that starts to visibly firm the skin as soon as it was applied. We combined progeline, Matrixyl 3000, and argireline to create a cream that can help prevent the muscle movement that can create or worsen fine lines and wrinkles, trigger the skin to replace its lost collagen, and increase firmness and density. Thin, saggy skin really is no match for it, and you can use it in the comfort of your own home.

Our Instant Wrinkle Eraser is another great option for similar issues. Within minutes, the skin visibly starts to show less obvious fine lines and wrinkles. Because a lot of those issues are related to the senior shadows that worsen with age and make the signs of aging more obvious, our wrinkle eraser helps to fight them off so that you can show off the beautiful skin that’s always been there.

Is There Anything Else That I Can Do?

While taking care of your skin with the right treatments and skin care products is important to helping decrease and even sometimes reverse the signs of visible aging, there is one other thing that most dermatologists cite as important.

Sunscreen is something that many people know is important but don’t use as frequently as they should. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association (or AAD) recommends that everyone use sunscreen any time that there is sun exposure. With an estimate that one in every five people will develop skin cancer during their lifetime, there really is nothing to lose.

It is recommended that you seek out broad-spectrum sunscreen (meaning that it protects against both UVA and UVB rays) that is water resistant and has an SPF of at least 35. You can apply it part of your skin care routine, or as the very last thing you do before heading out the door. Just that one small, simple step can keep you safe and keep your skin looking its best as long as possible.

In Summary

With so many different treatments out there, choosing one can be difficult and overwhelming. If you can take a step back and take a look at your goals, you can sort out the ones that wouldn’t necessarily be helpful or those that may be out of your budget. With a variety of different procedures that can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, Miami Skin Institute is here for you to boost the natural radiance of your skin through Miami Skin Ultherapy .
